You’ve always been great at giving back, why is it important to you?
I’m very lucky. I have always had a good home, a loving family, health and fitness. But I have known from quite a young age, having grown up around people with disabilities, that not everyone is so lucky. Giving back has always mattered because I’ve seen first hand how much of a difference it makes when people feel supported, listened to and valued
Which causes are closest to your heart / one thing about society in the UK that you wish you could change?
Inequality. Inequality exists in the UK in every single area you can imagine. From disability, to race, to gender, to place in society, to income. This is the one thing about society I wish I could change.
Child abuse and animal cruelty are causes closest to my heart. Causing suffering to the most vulnerable, least able to protect themselves is just incomprehensible.
How did you get involved in the CEO Sleepout?
I became involved having heard about it from the fantastic Amanda Wright at a networking event. I’ve been involved with homelessness charities for a while, and this seemed a fantastic way to raise money for local charities that make a difference.
What other ways do you "give back" or work to strengthen communities you work within?
I am an active participant in the Women in Customer Experience community, raising awareness of the amazing women in business and calling for equality. I’m also an active supporter of several local charities.
Name one thing you'd like people to know about your life and work:
My passion and the reason I set up my company is to help UK businesses become human centred, be the best they can be by putting people (employees and customers) at the heart of everything they do.
How might you see business playing a part in creating a fairer society here in the UK?
Embracing DE&I not just as a tick box exercise but as an essential component of their culture. Improving pay and working conditions, putting people at the centre of everything they do.
Why is it important that those in business lead with purpose?
It’s vital and something I write a lot about in my book. Purpose creates meaning beyond profit. When a business understands why it exists and the positive impact it wants to have, anything is possible.
