This is my 9th year in business since leaving the Army in 2016.
What are some of your driving values?
The team, contributing, adding value, respect for others, determination, doing the right thing.
You’ve always been great at giving back, why is it important to you?
I left the Army after serving 22 years, having no physical or mental health issues and therefore feel both fortunate and a responsibility to help others who are suffering.
Which causes are closest to your heart / one thing about society in the UK that you wish you could change?
Veteran/ex forces and homelessness. One thing I would change is for governmental processes to be fast tracked/ speeded up.
How did you get involved in the CEO Sleepout?
Through Walking With The Wounded Veterans charity.
What other ways do you "give back" or work to strengthen communities you work within?
I volunteer for activities with Walking With The Wounded (Cumbrian Challenge, Great North Run), play football (badly) in an ex-forces/Veterans team and currently helping Forfusion (who I work for) with a laptop donation programme to Walking With The Wounded.
Name one thing you'd like people to know about your life and work:
I'm 50 this year; I think my body is still 20 and after the Cumbrian Challenge I usually feel 103.
How might you see business playing a part in creating a fairer society here in the UK?
By getting stuck into activities to help others, and encouraging others in the workplace to do the same.
Why is it important that those in business lead with purpose?
Different reasons; its simply the right, moral thing to do. It sets a good example that can be seen nationally, at least on professional social media, and sometimes employees in the work place need something (other than 'just' work) that they can contribute too.
