Leader of Differentis: Transforming IT strategy for growth.
Ambassador: CEO Sleepout Sheffield
How long have you been in business for?
25 years this year.
What are some of your driving values?
Be Healthy, Be Together, Be Brave, Be Trustworthy, Be Curious.
You’ve always been great at giving back, why is it important to you?
Everybody needs a helping hand at sometime, we have one planet and humans are one people that seems keen to destroy sometimes.... we want to build to be better, its our legacy..... everything else is just noise.
Which causes are closest to your heart / one thing about society in the UK that you wish you could change?
We've lost the art of discussion and debate, everything is a soundbite and is polarised..... this has led to increased fear and people removing their accountability. We are accountable and have to stand up for what believe based on our context..... for example if every company gave 10% of their profits to solve homelessness in the city, it would be solved and every company could be proud of their social impact locally (Thats got to be better than just showing some accounting movements on a spreadsheet to show compliance!)
How did you get involved in the CEO Sleepout?
Erica! our amazing Change Practice Director got us involved with Women for Change and then Bianca came and spoke at our first Expo in 2024.
What other ways do you "give back" or work to strengthen communities you work within?
At Differentis, we do a number of things as a company and as individuals, with an annual company target of how many hours spent on social value activity. We don't shout about it on socials or anything else as thats not why we do it; we've done over 300 hours this years on things like talks in schools, pro bono activity for charities, leading/supporting local community groups etc
Name one thing you'd like people to know about your life and work:
I try, every day.... don't always succeed.... but tomorrow I'll be up and out and trying again.
How might you see business playing a part in creating a fairer society here in the UK?
We have to get on with it. Whilst there is a place for lobbying government etc, businesses actually have a lot of power and capability to work together and solve local issues.... we can not hide behind this nonsense of government policy.
Why is it important that those in business lead with purpose?
This sets the standard for others to follow, it shows the next generation we do car and we are passionate to make a difference and whist hisotry can never be our concern, it can and should be our teacher..... so what are we teaching those that follow us?
