Porchlight – Standing Beside People Facing Homelessness
Homelessness can happen to anyone. A sudden loss of income, poor mental health, or a breakdown in relationships can quickly lead to someone losing their home. The impact is immediate, but the journey out is rarely simple.
Porchlight has been supporting people across Kent for 50 years. They work with individuals facing homelessness and a wide range of challenges, offering help that reaches far beyond a roof over someone’s head.
Their support includes safe accommodation, advice, and specialist services for mental health and wellbeing. Through partnerships like Live Well Kent & Medway, they help people manage issues such as anxiety, financial stress, and housing insecurity before things reach crisis point. They also support young people who are struggling, helping them feel more hopeful about what lies ahead.
This work changes lives in real terms. People move away from sleeping on the streets into safe, stable accommodation. Others begin to feel more secure and able to cope with the pressures they are facing. For many, it’s the first step towards rebuilding their independence.
But the need is growing, and funding is under pressure. Services that people rely on are at risk, just as more individuals are reaching out for help.
Porchlight continues to stand alongside those who need it most, adapting their support to each person’s situation and helping them move forward at their own pace.
