The Marylebone Project: A Safe Space for Women in Crisis
For women experiencing homelessness, the risks are often heightened. Many are fleeing violence, exploitation, or severe instability, with nowhere safe to go. Finding support can be especially difficult, and without it, the impact can be long-lasting.
The Marylebone Project has been supporting vulnerable women in London for over 90 years. They provide a dedicated service for women facing homelessness and crisis, including those affected by domestic abuse, mental health challenges, and trafficking.
At the centre of their work is safety. They offer over 100 beds across long and short-term accommodation, including emergency spaces for women in immediate need. Each year, this provides tens of thousands of nights of secure shelter. Alongside this, their 24/7 Sanctuary offers a constant, reliable place for women sleeping rough to access support at any time.
But the work goes beyond providing a bed. The Marylebone Project creates an environment where women can begin to rebuild trust and reconnect with the world around them. Through education, training, and wellbeing activities, alongside specialist support services, women are given the space and encouragement to move forward.
Every woman arrives with her own experiences and challenges. The support offered reflects this, helping individuals regain confidence, develop new skills, and take steps towards independence in a way that feels achievable.
