Launchpad – Supporting People to Rebuild Stability and Independence
For many people, homelessness does not begin with sleeping on the streets. It often starts with pressure building quietly over time, debt, housing insecurity, poor mental health, or a crisis that becomes difficult to manage alone.
Through the work of Launchpad, individuals, couples and families across Reading are supported before homelessness takes hold, or while they are working to recover from it.
Support is delivered in different ways depending on need. For some, it begins with simple access to advice through drop-in sessions, where people can speak openly and get guidance without barriers or referrals.
For others, support is longer term and more structured. Floating support helps people work through complex challenges such as addiction, debt, domestic abuse, or mental health difficulties, with tailored plans designed around their situation.
Where stability is urgently needed, supported housing provides a safe place to live alongside consistent guidance. For many, this becomes a turning point, a space where the focus can shift from crisis to rebuilding.
Alongside this, life and work skills programmes help people regain confidence and develop practical tools for independent living. From interview preparation to cooking, IT skills and communication, the focus is on building everyday capability as well as long-term resilience.
Progress is different for everyone. Some people need short-term help to prevent eviction. Others need months of structured support to move forward after significant setbacks.
This is support shaped around the individual, helping people move towards stable housing and a more secure future.
Launchpad continues to respond to rising demand, supporting thousands of people each year as housing pressures increase across the region.
