Core Foundations: Building More Than a Place to Stay
Homelessness is rarely caused by one thing alone. It often grows from a mix of challenges, lack of money, limited support networks, and a loss of identity or purpose. Without the right support, it can be difficult for someone to find a stable way forward, even after a roof is found.
Core Foundations was created to respond to these deeper issues. Working across County Durham and Hexham, they focus not just on housing, but on helping people rebuild their lives. Their approach recognises that relationships and a sense of belonging matter just as much as practical support.
They provide safe homes for people experiencing homelessness, alongside ongoing guidance from an Empowerment Worker and support from local community networks. This includes help with everyday living, building confidence, and developing skills that make independent living possible. Tenants are supported for up to two years, giving them time and stability to make lasting changes.
The journey out of homelessness is not always straightforward. It takes time to rebuild routines, relationships, and confidence. Core Foundations works alongside each person, helping them move towards independence at a pace that feels manageable and realistic.
