I have been in Recruitment for over 15 years specialising in the industrial and commercial sectors. Over the last 16 months I have taken the reigns of Halo's online marketing, building up our social media presence so we stand out as a business.
What are some of your driving values?
Supporting and empowering others, both within my business and in the broader community. Promoting diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for growth and success is a powerful value that drives me to make positive change. Upholding high ethical standards and demonstrating honesty, transparency, and fairness in all my business dealings. I strongly feel that acting with integrity is is what builds trust with my clients and colleagues. Helpfulness is also one of my biggest driven values, being able to help others by using my knowledge and abilities in order for them to reach their goals and better themselves.
You’ve always been great at giving back, why is it important to you?
Giving back provides an opportunity for me to make a positive impact on the lives of others and the community. It allows me to contribute to causes I care about, help those in need, and create a ripple effect of kindness and compassion.
Giving back also can stem from a sense of gratitude for one’s own blessings and me a desire to empathise with and support those who may be less fortunate. It helps me develop a deeper understanding of others’ struggles and fosters compassion and empathy. It also brings me a sense of fulfilment, purpose, and satisfaction. Knowing that I have made a difference, no matter how small, it brings me joy and a sense of personal accomplishment.
Which causes are closest to your heart / one thing about society in the UK that you wish you could change?
Homelessness is close to my heart and since working with the CEO Sleepout to raise awareness, this has encouraged me to continue yearly to raise awareness through community outreach. My grandad passed away with prostate cancer and so I also support Prostate Cancer UK. I wish there were more options and finding given to be able to stop this at earlier stages to prevent this taking lives and becoming so aggressive so quickly.
How did you get involved in the CEO Sleepout?
I got involved with the CEO Sleepout after researching the charity. I had been to wanting more involvement in raising awareness for this cause as I strongly believe nobody should be without a safe place to call home - and yet far too many people including children and families are without.
What other ways do you "give back" or work to strengthen communities you work within?
I offer guidance and support to individuals, particularly youth, by becoming a mentor. Sharing my knowledge and experiences so this can have a positive impact on their personal and professional development. I also participate in community events, initiatives, and projects. This includes neighbourhood clean-ups, fundraising activities, joining local committees.
Name one thing you'd like people to know about your life and work:
I’m always looking to better myself, from the age of 14 I have worked. I’ve always had a goal to reach and invest my time into others both personally and professionally. Supporting others with their goals is something I find very rewarding.
How might you see business playing a part in creating a fairer society here in the UK?
Having a clear purpose helps business leaders align their actions and decisions with their core values. It provides a guiding compass for ethical behaviour and ensures that business practices are in line with the broader values of the organisation. When employees understand and connect with the purpose of their work, it fosters a sense of meaning and fulfilment. This, in turn, leads to higher levels of engagement, productivity, and motivation among employees.
Why is it important that those in business lead with purpose?
Businesses that lead with purpose are more likely to build trust and credibility with their stakeholders, including customers, partners, and the community. By actively demonstrating their commitment to a greater purpose beyond profit, they can establish a positive reputation and earn the trust of their stakeholders. Purpose-driven businesses tend to have a long-term perspective and prioritise sustainability. By considering the broader impact of their actions on society and the environment, they are better equipped to make responsible decisions that benefit not just their bottom line but also the well-being of future generations.
By participating in a CEO Sleepout event, you’ll gain insight into the big issues surrounding homelessness and what – as business leader – you have the power to change. We hope you’ll be moved to create a positive social impact in your business, adding value that strengthens communities and society as a whole.
