I have been in business for 20 years now. Concept Personnel was founded in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2003, and we have been serving clients and candidates in the Marketing, Creative and Digital sectors ever since.
What are some of your driving values?
Integrity and transparency are fundamental to how I operate. I believe in fostering a culture of trust, both within my team and with our clients and candidates. Additionally, I'm passionate about continuous improvement and delivering exceptional service. We strive to go above and beyond expectations, always aiming to exceed the needs of our clients and provide valuable support to our candidates.
You’ve always been great at giving back, why is it important to you?
Giving back is deeply important to me because I believe that businesses have a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities they operate in. It's not just about financial success; it's about making a difference and leaving a lasting impact. By giving back, we can help address social issues, support those in need, and create a more inclusive and equitable society. It's about using our platform and resources to make a meaningful difference beyond the bottom line.
Which causes are closest to your heart / one thing about society in the UK that you wish you could change?
There are two causes that are particularly close to my heart. Firstly, mental health and well-being. I believe that everyone deserves access to the support and resources needed to maintain good mental health. We have been actively involved in promoting mental health awareness and supporting initiatives that provide assistance to those who need it. Secondly, I am deeply passionate about gender equality and diversity in the workplace. I firmly believe that everyone should have equal opportunities and be able to thrive regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or background. I wish to see a society in the UK where diversity and inclusivity are embraced, and everyone has a fair chance to succeed.
How did you get involved in the CEO Sleepout?
I got involved in the CEO Sleepout through my desire to raise awareness and make a tangible impact on homelessness. I wanted to go beyond monetary donations and experience firsthand the challenges faced by those who sleep rough. CEO Sleepout provided an opportunity to not only raise funds but also to engage with other business leaders and work collectively towards finding sustainable solutions for homelessness.
What other ways do you "give back" or work to strengthen communities you work within?
We actively participate in local initiatives and sponsor community events to strengthen the communities we work within. We also provide pro bono recruitment services to charitable organisations, helping them find the right talent to further their missions. Moreover, we support educational programs and mentorship opportunities for aspiring professionals in the creative and digital sectors, aiming to empower the next generation.
Name one thing you'd like people to know about your life and work:
I want people to know that I am deeply passionate about what I do, and I genuinely care about the well-being and success of our clients, candidates, and the wider community. I am committed to making a positive impact and strive to create an environment where people can thrive personally and professionally.
How might you see business playing a part in creating a fairer society here in the UK?
Businesses have a unique opportunity and responsibility to shape society positively. By adopting ethical practices, promoting diversity and inclusion, and actively addressing social issues, businesses can contribute to building a fairer society. This can involve initiatives like fair hiring practices, equal pay, environmental sustainability, and supporting local communities. When businesses prioritise the well-being of their employees, customers, and the wider society, they can be catalysts for positive change.
Why is it important that those in business lead with purpose?
Leading with purpose is crucial because it gives businesses a clear direction and a meaningful reason for existence. Purpose-driven businesses are more likely to attract and retain top talent, build stronger relationships with customers, and drive long-term success. Moreover, businesses that lead with purpose can inspire others and influence the broader business community to prioritise social and environmental responsibility. When we align our business goals with a greater purpose, we have the potential to create a better world while also achieving sustainable growth.
By participating in a CEO Sleepout event, you’ll gain insight into the big issues surrounding homelessness and what – as business leader – you have the power to change. We hope you’ll be moved to create a positive social impact in your business, adding value that strengthens communities and society as a whole.
