SPARK Community Space is a local charity, working to reach those who have been left out or left behind, to give people a place to belong, to be part of a community of support, to heal together and to SPARK back into life!
We want to welcome anyone who feels they have been pushed aside or overlooked by society, perhaps because of long term illness, or redundancy; perhaps because of lack of skills, or qualifications; perhaps because of disability, or race; or any other reason.
SPARK is a place to belong; a place of welcome and friendship; a place for healing and rebuilding; somewhere for people to rediscover their value and self-worth and to ‘spark’ themselves back into life.
We meet people, wherever they are in life, without judgement, providing a space for people to share a cup of tea and a cake, gain skills and purpose through volunteering, and access training towards regaining confidence and a sense of belonging in society.
We are so pleased to be part of the CEO Sleep Out in Portsmouth – everything we achieve depends on partnerships and working together. One charity, agency or service alone cannot address every need or issue that is present in our city. We need to work together to give people access to everything they need to rebuild their life and find their spark again!
The CEO Sleep out allows us to engage with our partners to raise awareness of our work and the wider issues we encounter; it allows us to come together in an activity that fosters relationships and gives us all a sense of making a positive difference for Portsmouth. We can see a tangible outcome in the sponsorship raised but the collective energy of working together and forging new relationships is even better!
We have been able to promote the activity to our networks, allowing local community and business leaders to make a statement of their commitment to improving lives in Portsmouth, and we can make new connections to help our work going forward; we depend on partnerships to provide our services.
The money raised will allow us to continue to offer a place where anybody who feels like a nobody has the chance to be a somebody.
